Method Grid Glossary

A glossary of terms and methodology, as used by the  Method Grid application and ways of working.

Term Definition
Playbook A digital, interactive guide that details how a service or project is delivered; capturing best practices, tools and team knowledge. Used interchangeably with grid.
Grid The core matrix structure within a playbook that organises knowledge assets using themes (rows) and stages (columns). Used interchangeably with playbook.
Master Grid/Playbook The gold-standard, reference version of a playbook/grid, used to create consistent, customised versions for individual projects or clients.
Stage Vertical categorisation representing a delivery phase or lifecycle step within a playbook/grid.
Theme Horizontal categorisation within a playbook/grid, representing a discipline or knowledge area (e.g. Commercial, Governance).
Element A building block, placed in the intersection of a stage and theme within a playbook/grid that contains structured content such as templates, checklists, videos and guidance.
Stage Gate A checkpoint between stages within a playbook/grid to ensure defined criteria are met before progressing, often for quality assurance.
Edit Mode A permissions-based mode that allows users to schedule and edit playbooks/grids and their content.
Cloning The duplication of a playbook/grid or element to enable rapid reuse and consistency across different projects or clients.
Playbook/Grid Filters Tools to customise playbook/grid views based on labels, progress or responsibility; supporting navigation and reporting.
Content Areas Sections within an element or stage gate that organise different types of content (e.g. guidance notes, file templates, tasks, videos etc.).
Labels Labels used to categorise and track playbooks/grids or elements within a playbook/grid, enabling filtering and visual status cues.
Folders Used to structure and organise related playbooks/grids logically. Folders support navigation, thematic grouping and enable insights across collections of information.
Gantt A visual timeline for scheduling and tracking within a single playbook/grid; showing dependencies, end dates and durations.
Portfolio Gantt A high-level Gantt view that aggregates timelines from multiple playbooks/grids within a folder to give visibility across programmes or portfolios.
Task Evidence Documentation or artefacts attached to tasks within elements or stage gates, used to demonstrate completion - key for audit trails and quality assurance.
